Poor man’s mastering: Mastering without a plugin

author Posted by: fredometro on date Aug 21st, 2008 | filed Filed under: Music

In a guitar forum, someone was asking where he could find good free mastering
plugin, or a working demo. And I was wondering wether it is possible to do a
reasonably correct mastering without such a plugin, only by using equalization
and compression, which is basically used in mastering.

I am not a theorist and I wanted to give it a try. So, using Tracktion, I
created a project with 4 tracks. First track for the bass frequencies, second
for the low-mediums, third for high-mediums and fourth for the highs. Each track
has its own compressor. So simple! I have now a project for mastering.. All I
have to do is to insert a copy of the final mixed track on each of these tracks.

Here is how the four tracks look:

The result is rather convincing. Listen to the three versions of the song:

1) Not masterized:

2) Masterized with Acuma Final Mix:

3) Masterized with the tiny mastering project:

Conclusion: If your finances are low and are not working on a very demanding
project, you may take advantage by using this technique.

    Aquarium Equipment Needs

Fish tanks require to be filled with accessories, not simply for ornament but for the fish’s or another animals own life. If animals don’t benefit from a filtrate and a heater they will die, it’s the same with several amphibians. They demand some light and warmth or they die! You need to achieve your aquarium appear as tho’ it is piece of their natural surroundings, you have also got to make sure that it functions similar to it too.

When setting up an aquarium for fish you have to make certain there are lights, warmth and filtration. The strain is extremely important as this keeps the water waste free, which is necessary to keeping your fish alive. The filter sucks in liquid from the bottom and basically recycles it and it comes out the top good and clear. There are additional methods of filtration, but that is the most standard one, unless it is a saltwater container then you have an external sump container and that does all the filtration. Filters can be picked up in any pet or fish store.

Heating is also other critical element of setting up an aquarium. This tank element regulates the temperature of the aquarium, and yes it can be used in water. You can set the warmer to a temperature that you require the liquid to maintain at, most tropical fish need the liquid around twenty six or twenty seven degrees Celsius. Fish are pretty fussy concerning their temperature, they begun to do strange things when it gets too cold and when it is too hot they shall die. Heaters are available in every pet store and you can decide the size and voltage of the warmer, as larger tanks shall need bigger and strong heaters.

Lights are another constituent tank accessory, as they amend certain fish live such as corals and anemones; yes they are living creature’s not simply plants. They need intensive lighting conditions to assure that they don’t size, the lights require to be at littlest a T-5 which means one of the most effective lights that you can buy and of course they are really expensive and heavy. They are exclusively available in specialised shops and not all fish shops stock them. They may demand to be ordered.

The most effective way to start an aquarium is to purchase a complete kit like the Marineland Eclipse System Twelve and populate it with alguae for the first 3-4 weeks. Learn about nitrogen and how it cycles in an aquarium, you will then be ready to add the fish.

Marineland Eclipse System Twelve can be ordered at ShopOnLine4All.com:
